1. American Pit Bull Terriers don’t need extra muscle. Nature takes care of that. Proper exercise, good clean water, a solid and ready diet, athletic APBT.
2. In almost all cases the person requesting the question also asks: “Is a weighted vest going to harm my puppy?” uh yeah The cubs are growing. Putting a heavy vest on a young dog would be like putting a 10-pound backpack on a 2-year-old. I’m not sure why so many people want to add muscle to an already athletic breed of dog. I guess it’s status or ego or whatever, but the truth of the matter is that your dog has to have predisposed genetics to be in good shape. The good news is that most APBTs have these genetics.
However, there are some dogs (cough, cough, Gotti, Razors Edge, cough, cough) that are very finished and will never be in top shape. When people see these monstrous fats, wide and short, they think that he is “fit and muscular”.
I’m here to tell people that they’re not even close to being in great shape.

Anyway, stabbing relatives to the side, putting muscle on your dog is not about making them lift weights or put heavy vests on them in the early ages. It takes planning, a lot of work, and, as I mentioned, genetics for a dog to have that condition. Read but solid. Built but properly provided. Athletic by nature. These are the physical traits of the American Pit Bull Terrier and nothing more than that is about doing it.
